Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania 2010 Election Results

Thanks to your support, CVPA contacted 20,107 voters during the 2010 election cycle, helping elect 11 of our 19 endorsed candidates.   In an extraordinarily tough election for pro-environment candidates, a 58% win percentage is something we should all be proud of.

While we’ll miss the support of leaders like Representatives Barbara McIlvaine Smith, David Kessler and Tom Houghton, CVPA has been able to protect a number of environmental champions.

Representative-Elect Kevin Boyle thanks CVPA and its members for their support.

Highlights:
Representative Steve Santarsiero, one of our most important allies in Harrisburg, faced a grueling reelection campaign.   CVPA identified, contacted and turned out 1132 voters in his district.  When the votes were tallied, Representative Santarsiero won by only 189 votes.

CVPA’s #1 priority in 2010 was to replace one of the dirtiest lawmakers in America with an up-and-coming environmental champion.  Our programs, staff and volunteers contacted 3853 voters in Northeast Philadelphia to convince them to replace Dirty Dozen member John Perzel with Kevin Boyle, a young leader who understands the importance of the environment. Kevin won on November 2 by a margin of 1245 votes.

CVPA thanks every one of our endorsed candidates for their willingness to serve and their commitment to environmental protection.
