Dr. Val Arkoosh

Dr. Val Arkoosh is running for re-election as the Chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners. She is running on the same ticket as fellow commissioner and Vice-Chair, Ken Lawrence, Jr.

Dr. Arkoosh was first elected in 2016 and has been a strong advocate for environmental policies in Montgomery County. In 2017, she led the Commissioners to support efforts to continue fighting climate change after President Trump pulled the United States from the Paris Climate Accords. The commission is currently working on adopting an ordinance which would encourage clean energy use at commercial properties throughout the county. Since her election, the Board of Commissioners has helped Montgomery County preserve 11 farms, totaling 565 acres. Both Dr. Arkoosh and Vice-Chair Lawrence are strong supporters of expanding public transportation options, transitioning to 100% clean energy, and preparing Montgomery County for the extreme weather that results from climate change.

Dr. Val Arkoosh is a committed environmentalist who will continue to make Montgomery County a cleaner and greener place. We encourage you to vote for her on November 5!
