[Philadelphia, PA] – Today, Conservation Voters of PA endorsed Melissa Shusterman (D) for State Representative in Chester County’s 157th District. Conservation Voters of PA represents thousands of individuals in the Commonwealth who are committed to clean air, land, energy, and water, and prepared to vote for candidates who reflect those values.

“Melissa Shusterman is exactly the kind of candidate we need representing Chester County. She recognizes the importance of preserving our open spaces and protecting our drinking water from pipelines and other threats, and will prioritize environmental progress in Harrisburg,” said Caren Glotfelty, Board Chair of Conservation Voters of PA.

Melissa is a fourth generation Phoenixville resident and entrepreneur. She has made environmental issues an integral part of her campaign and is committed to fighting for clean air, open space, and drinkable water. She has committed to supporting increased funding for the Department of Environmental Protection and instituting a permanent moratorium on fracking in the Delaware River Basin. She has also pledged to never take money from the fossil fuel lobby. Her opponent has just a 27 percent lifetime score on our 2017/2018 Pennsylvania Environmental Scorecard.

Ms. Shusterman said of the endorsement, “I am honored to be endorsed by Conservation Voters of PA. The career politicians in Harrisburg are not doing enough to protect our environment and beautiful open spaces. I look forward to working with Conservation Voters of PA over the next few months to elect candidates, like myself, who will work to bring common sense legislation to Harrisburg in efforts to protect our environment.”
