6 Pennsylvania Bills Taking on Energy Costs, Data Centers and More
Specifically, the House has approved legislation that would:
- Require data centers get a third of their electricity from new renewable sources (HB 2650 - sponsored by Rep. Webster)
- End the practice of NDAs between AI data centers and municipalities (HB 2359 - sponsored by Rep. Ciresi)
- Allow municipalities to put short-term pauses on data centers in place (HB 2496 - sponsored by Rep. Friel)
- Require Pennsylvania's largest electric utilities to add battery storage to the grid (HB 2380 - sponsored by Rep. Rivera)
- Create commonsense rules the PUC must follow to prioritize the public before automatically approving utility rate hikes (HB 2184 - sponsored by Rep. Otten)
- Create virtual power plants in Pennsylvania (HB 2264 - sponsored by Rep. Davidson)
