Betsy Monroe is running for State Representative in the 30th district in Allegheny County.
Betsy is an experienced healthcare professional who has worked in the Pittsburgh healthcare industry for more than ten years. Serving her community has always been a big part of her life, including serving as PTO treasurer for her children’s schools for five years, leading a Girl Scout troop, and volunteering for trail maintenance.
Betsy wants Pennsylvania to stop writing blank checks to the gas industry and supports a clean severance tax with no anti-environmental riders. She also wants Pennsylvania to bring its environmental protections up to par with other states by establishing and enforcing standards of wastewater disposal and requiring regular safety inspections of fracking activities.
Betsy is in a tough race this year against an incumbent who earned just a 33% lifetime score on our 2017/2018 Pennsylvania Environmental Scorecard. We know that Betsy will make protecting the environment a priority when elected and encourage voters in the 30th district to vote to send her to Harrisburg this November.
