Delaware County Council - Elaine Schaefer

Elaine is running for re-election to Delaware County Council. She founded the Radnor Conservancy to protect open space in her township and previously served as the first-ever woman President of the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners. 

Together with her fellow council people, Elaine created and appointed a Sustainability Commission, and they hired a Sustainability Director who ensures a sustainability lens for all County operations. Some of the specific actions they have taken already or are working on now include: converting to an all-electric fleet (over 300 vehicles), adopting a Sustainability Plan, adopting a Zero Waste approach to solid waste disposal, instituting a composting and recycling program within the government center, updating facilities to be more energy efficient, switching energy purchasing to focus on renewable energy, and planning for solar energy production on County-owned property.
