Summer Lee is running in the 34th district, which is located in Allegheny County.
As a lifelong resident of the 34th district, Summer is a tireless advocate for communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pollution from dozens of sources, including power plants, chemical manufacturing, coke-making facilities, and more. The American Lung Association recently rated Allegheny as having some of the worst air quality in the entire nation, and it’s led to a sky-high asthma rates. Summer would fight to crack down on pollution from these sources and ensure the Department of Environmental Protection is fully funded so it can do its job.
Summer is also deeply concerned about the quality of water in her district, and she supports funding to replace lead water lines, especially in schools where children are exposed daily. Ensuring safe, clean drinking water is why she opposes fracking.
Summer believes that Pennsylvania should be a leader in fighting climate change and supports giving all communities access to solar power generation.
Summer defeated a 20-year incumbent in the primary who received just a 34% on our Pennsylvania Environmental Scorecard. She will be a much more pro-environment choice in November for the voters of the 34th district.
